Every week we keep track of how many homes are for sale around Bellingham and Whatcom County and how many of those homes have pending offers on them. Pending is the time frame between when an offer has been mutual accepted between the buyer’s and the seller’s of the home and when the title actually transfers hands. Ferndale's Old Settler Picnic Today July 25th-28th

Ferndale Olde Settlers PicnicThis weekend the town of Ferndale will be buzzing with excitement and activity as they host the 118th Annual Old Settler’s Picnic centered in Ferndale’s Historic Pioneer Park. The Old Settler’s Day Picnic celebrates the history of the homesteaders and founders of the Ferndale area, their culture and their occupations.

At Pioneer Park you are greeted by members of the Old Settler’s Association and the Ferndale Heritage Society dresses in pioneer style clothing and ready to help guide you around the historical cabins, schools house and other community buildings in the park. The building’s aren’t all from Ferndale many are from other areas of the county as well that were moved to Pioneer Park to be preserved, celebrated and cared for.

If you are thinking about heading out to Ferndale to take in the events you want be lacking in things to do. Today Friday, July 26th festivities kicking off with tours of the cabins, a Jump Around Fun Zone for the kids, children’s activities, Junior parade, beer garden in the barn, petting zoo and more!

Tomorrow, Saturday July 27th kicks off a 9am with the Car Show at the Central School Grounds, the Old Settler 5K Run/Walk and the Grande Parade at 11am. Directions to Park From I-5 take exit 262, head west on Main street approximately 1 mile. Cross the Nooksack River and turn left on 1st Avenue. At the end of 1st Avenue is Pioneer Park. Alternate Directions to Park From I-5 take exit 260 and head west on Slater Road (SR-540) approximately 1.4 miles. Cross the Nooksack River and turn right on the Ferndale Road. Follow the Ferndale Road north approximately 1.8 miles to Cherry Street. Turn left onto Cherry Street. The main entrance into Pioneer Park is about 100ft ahead on the left.
