Birch Bay Tops The List of Tax Friendly Cities

According to a recent survey from the financial technology company SmartAsset, Birch Bay tops the list of Washington’s most Retirement Tax Friendly cities!

SmartAsset takes a look at the tax policies for each city and the average retirement income. They then calculated the effective property tax rates, sales tax and fuel taxes for each area and create an index weighted capture the taxes that most effect retirees. Birch Bay had the highest Retirement Tax Friendliness Index, barely beating out East Port Orchard.

Fairhaven was originally founded in 1889 and is a lovely historic district located on Bellinghams South side. Originally one of four pioneer settlements on Bellingham Bay which later merged to become the City of Bellingham. The neighborhood is best known for its beautifully preserved historical buildings, sixteen on which are on the state and federal historic register.

Residents of Fairhaven are intensely proud of their community and have taken great care in preserving the charm and pleasure of their neighborhood. Currently there are many building projects taking place in Fairhaven, but you will notice each and every project retains that original Fairhaven touches that make it a special place

Explore Bellingham's Central Business District

cbd1The Central Business District is also known as downtown Bellingham and is primarily a commercial and industrial area. Although, is recent years there has been an increase in multi family residential units such as apartments and excecutive condominiums being built in the neighborhood.  There are a few single family detached residences in this neighborhood as well most dating back to the early 1900’s and tucked away between local business. .
